Melt! is essentially a European style cafe, serving wines & beers alongside tea & coffee. We serve English favorites like pasties, sausage rolls and welsh rarebit, as well as cheese platters and other small plates that compliment your drinks. Our speciality is fondue, and although we are not Swiss we are pretty good at it. We have a selection of Cheese fondues and a desert fondue. These are especially popular on a chilly winter evening and are great washed down with some mulled wine. Melt!, the latest in a great line of neighborhood cafes to embrace the artistic community of North Beach, was once a local refuge for the legendary Rat Packers when they were in town. Perhaps after a night at the Matador Club or the Jazz Workshop on Broadway, they'd head over to what was then the Cafferata Ravioli Factory and hide out in the basement, drinking, smoking and getting an after-hours snack. Imagine the spirits of Rat Packers Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Ol' Blue Eyes himself laughing and drinking, reminiscing and chilling below a vibrant and frenetic North Beach of the early 1960's. You've entered the Melt! zone. The spirit lives on in the bohemians that now frequent the place, come experience it....
